Fundación Capital is currently seeking a Deputy Technical Advisor on Financial Inclusion to provide support in our work with the Government of Tanzania, financial institutions and other NGOs. S/he will be based in Dar es Salaam and will be expected to travel to other regions of Tanzania when required, under an 18 month service provision contract that is open to a longer-term employment perspective. What are the tasks and responsibilities?
Manage the day-to-day activities linked with providing technical advice to the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) on the Livelihoods Enhancement and e-Payments projects currently underway, supporting the Head of Operations in implementing the work plan.
Organize and/or form part of the field team that seeks to gather field-based research insights about the requirements of the people expected to benefit from the program.
Monitor the progress of funded projects and activities and ensure on-time performance of planned activities.
Oversee the production of reports that document insights from the field and generate summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify potential interventions which will promote greater financial inclusion and seek out public and private sector partners and donors who support similar goals.
Advise partners on the design and implementation of effective financial inclusion strategies.
Attend meetings and events on financial inclusion to present the work of Fundación Capital.
Personal Requirements
The person we are looking for should be independent, dynamic and persistent and an entrepreneurial innovator. S/he is highly committed to social and development issues and is able to relate well with the people living in poverty.
Technical Requirements
Languages:
Oral and written fluency in Swahili and English
Skills & Knowledge:
Broad knowledge of financial inclusion issues (e.g. mobile money, financial education, product development)
Good writing skills, demonstrated through the production of reports, research papers and / or publications Management and project implementation skills
Work Experience:
At least 4 years of work experience in the financial inclusion field or the development sector
Field work with vulnerable communities preferably in Tanzania
Demonstrated experience in preparing proposals for funding
Previous experience in the private sector would be an advantage.
Education:
Bachelor degree in economics, finance, development studies, community economic development or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution; Master degree preferred.
