EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR ACQUISITION OF PLOT/BUILDING FOR TANESCO
KIMARA DISTRICT AREA
1. Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited - TANESCO is an autonomous Government
organization with the mission to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. The Company has
its headquarters in Dar Es Salaam and extends to over 29 regions divided into seven zones and
more than 96 districts all over the country. Due to an increase number of customers, the company
has decided to build its own district office at Kimara area so that customers will be attended timely
in case of emergency cases and also obtain other company services through this office.
2. TANESCO intends to acquire plot/building within the areas specified hereunder and therefore
issued this Expression of Interest for the purpose of identifying property owners who have an
interest in offering their plots / buildings for sale:
Description of the required area: the plot measuring between 8,094 and 20,235 square meters
to allow construction of office building, storage of line distribution materials, ex site materials prior
to disposal, parking space for office and customers vehicles. The plot should be located between
Kimara Korogwe and Mbezi Kibanda cha Mkaa and have easy access to the general public
and with friendly environment appropriate for company business. It should be near the main
Morogoro Road of less than or up to 250 metres.
3. TANESCO now invites Expression of Interest from the general public/owners of plots or buildings
in the areas specified above. The plots/buildings must have easy access to the general public
and with a friendly environment that is appropriate for the company business. TANESCO at its
sole discretion may or may not proceed further.
4. The Expression of Interest proposal must include the following:
• Cover letter indicating if you are the legal owner of the Land or act as Agent for the owner of
the Land. If Agent, a letter acknowledging such must be attached with the cover letter.
• Contact Information: Name, Address, valid Phone Number of the Land/building Owner or
Agent
• Municipal Address of the Land (if different from above)
• Full Legal Description of the Land enclosing Certificate of Title (CT).
• Actual Size of the Land
• History of Land Use.
• Age of the building (if there is building on the plot).
• Accessibility of the area
• Any other information that may be relevant to the Land
5. On receipt of such Expression of Interest, the said plots/buildings will be inspected for preliminary
short-listing of those areas that meets requirement under Para 2 above. Owners of the shortlisted
plots/buildings would be requested to submit their financial proposals (offers) for scrutiny and
comparison prior entering into agreement with the lowest evaluated owner. The Expression of
Interest can be forwarded by owners or their representatives enclosing legally binding
authorization to administer on his/her behalf including finalizing the agreement.
6. Expression of Interest documents in one original plus two copies, properly filled in are to be
enclosed in plain envelopes marked, EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR ACQUISITION OF
2 PLOT/BUILDING FOR TANESCO KIMARA DISTRICT AREA, must be delivered to the SENIOR ZONAL MANAGER, TANESCO – DAR ES SALAAM AND COAST ZONE, P.O. BOX 2233, DAR ES SALAAM to reach him at TANESCO Zonal Office, Samora Avenue, room No. 418 not later than Monday 15th May, 2017 at 13.00hrs local time. If owner has more than one plot/building to be offered in the same area, a separate Expression of Interest has to be submitted for
each plot/building.
7. Deadline for submission will be on or before 13:00 hours Monday, 15th May, 2017. The Shortlisted owners will be notified before visiting the areas.
8. Late submissions, portion of submissions and electronic submissions shall not be accepted
irrespective of the circumstances.
